One of my favourite walks has to be the Glen Lednock Circular in Comrie.
This walk has all the best bits to tick off…
Waterfalls, not 1 but 2…!!!
Firstly the Wee Cauldron…
Then the star attraction- The Deil’s Cauldron
Both of the waterfalls have some impressive walkways and viewing platforms erected many years ago by some talented Army engineers.
After a gentle climb through woodland following the river it is like a Tropical Rain Forest! (Apart from the tropical temperature 😃)
After the steps you are on a small section of a single track road! You have a choice of heading up to Melville Monument or carry on as the scenery opens up in front of you.
From here a short walk takes you to the Shaky Bridge to cross over the river.
This walk is very dog-friendly with a doggy gate next to the human stile!
The next path changes depending on the time of year! Just now it is a forest of Bracken either side!!
There are plenty of benches dotted throughout this route for lunch stops or just passing a few minutes enjoying the scenery.
You then pass through a section of forestry plantation which has recently been felled, creating some great views to Melville Monument.
The next stage is my favourite! Apart from going downhill it passes through a magnificent Ancient Oak Woodland.
Although near the end of the walk, this is my favourite bench and I always have to stop here.
With great views over the wooded valley and the hills beyond, you can also see down to Comrie and the iconic White Church.
Down quite a steep section with some handy wooden steps…
The final part of this trip is along the multi-ability path and back to the car park.
So happy to have such a varied route through many habitats. It takes a lot to beat this wonderful short walk 😃
